2017-18 Season

Southern Fried Funeral

Directed by Anna Branam
at Greenlee Theater at M.A.C.A.

Dewey Frye is dead and the rest of his family is left to pick up the pieces — that is if they don't kill each other first. Not only does matriarch Dorothy have to contend with sudden widowhood, but she's also faced with church-committee harpy Ozella Meeks sticking her nose in the family business, Dewey's snake-in-the-grass brother making a grab for her house, and two grown daughters reliving their childhood rivalry. Funerals bring out the worst, the best, and the funniest in people, and the Fryes are no exception.

Auditions: July 10, 11
Performances: September 8-9, 15-17

A Christmas Carol

Directed by Ken Davis
at Greenlee Theater at M.A.C.A.

Dramatized with flair and wit in a version first performed by the Royal Shakespeare Company, this adaptation of the ageless story captures Dickens' ironic point of view while it creates a panoramic view of Victorian London. All of the much loved characters are in place. A Christmas Carol is exactly like the extraordinary tale: boisterous, sentimenal and compassionate; fairy tale and social criticism; moral parable and family entertainment appealing to the grown-up in children and the child in the grown-ups.

Auditions: September 11, 12
Performances: November 3-5, 10-11

Director's Workshop & Performance

Directed by Treavor Gouge

Have you ever wanted to learn what a director does? Ever wanted to try it out? Come join us the week of November 13-17th for a FREE Director's Workshop to learn how to direct a show! At the end of the week, new directors will pick a short play and cast and rehearse. In January, the new directors will showcase their amazing new skills at the Directors Workshop Performance Event. This Off-Main event allows your adoring public to witness your debut and shower you with praise! The workshop is a low-stress, gentle introduction to directing. Two of our directors for this current season attended this workshop last year! Don't want to direct? That's ok, just make plans to attend the Performance in January to celebrate new directors!

August: Osage County

Directed by Treavor Gouge
at Greenlee Theater at M.A.C.A.

A vanished father. A pill-popping mother. Three sisters harboring shady little secrets. When the large Weston family unexpectedly reunites after Dad disappears, their Oklahoman family homestead explodes in a maelstrom of repressed truths and unsettling secrets. Mix in Violet, the drugged-up, scathingly acidic matriarch, and you've got a major new play that unflinchingly — and uproariously — exposes the dark side of the Midwestern American family. "This original and corrosive black comedy deserves a seat at the dinner table with the great American faimly plays." — Time Magazine

Auditions: April 2, 3
Performances: June 8-10, 15-16
